Where Adventure Meets Serenity

Dear Adventurers,

We are delighted to introduce a new quarterly newsletter series, where we will take you to inspiring destinations shaped by visionary “adventurer-entrepreneurs” who have turned their dreams into reality.

We begin this journey in Indonesia, highlighting the remarkable achievement of two Swiss adventurers whose vision has come to life, and has now been recognized with a prestigious award.

Borobudur Temple, built in the 9th century during the Sailendra dynasty, stands today as the world’s largest Buddhist monument and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Designed as a spiritual ascent toward enlightenment, its nine terraces unfold through more than 2,600 intricate reliefs and over 500 Buddha statues. Once hidden beneath volcanic ash and jungle, it was rediscovered in the 19th century and carefully restored, re-emerging as one of Southeast Asia’s most powerful and inspiring cultural landmarks.

Borobudur Temple

It is this sense of journey, both physical and spiritual, that inspired the creation of Le Temple, an elegant and award-winning hotel located just 700 meters from Borobudur, in the heart of Magelang Regency, Central Java. Recognized at the Tablet Hotels Design Awards 2026 (Asia), the property reflects a rare balance between architectural refinement and deep cultural resonance. Its distinctive stupa-shaped villas reinterpret the sacred geometry of the temple, blending Swiss precision with Javanese craftsmanship and opening onto sweeping panoramic views of lush landscapes and volcanic horizons.

Behind this vision lies the journey of two Swiss adventurers, Jolan Tachet (seated on the left in the front row of the image below) and Stéphane Masset (seated on the right in the front row).

Hotel Le Temple Founders

Drawn to Indonesia by a shared passion for exploration, they gradually transformed their experience into something more ambitious: a place that embodies both the spirit of Borobudur and their personal connection to the region. Through years of dedication and hands-on involvement, they brought Le Temple to life, creating not just a hotel, but a destination shaped by purpose and storytelling.

 Hotel Le Temple Yoga

More than a place to stay, Le Temple invites guests into an immersive experience. Each moment is designed to immerse guests in the essence of Java, from sunrise explorations of Borobudur and surrounding temples to traditional craft workshops, holistic wellness rituals inspired by Buddhist philosophy, and refined dining that blends French elegance with Indonesian heritage.

Hotel Le Temple

Nestled among jungle-covered hills and volcanic landscapes, the property offers a tranquil yet deeply engaging retreat. Its collection of standalone villas, some featuring private pools or jacuzzis, combines privacy, comfort, and a seamless connection to nature, with expansive floor-to-ceiling windows and refined teak interiors framing breathtaking views.

To fully embrace this experience, Le Temple is best discovered over several days. The journey unfolds progressively, revealing new layers of culture, wellness, and exploration with each night. From curated excursions to immersive rituals and culinary moments, each day offers a new perspective. Extended stays unlock a series of exclusive privileges, transforming a visit into a truly enriching journey, where time itself becomes part of the experience.
